5th and 6th grade band winter concert

By: Sirianna Blanck and Lucy Mayer

Thursday, December 4, the 5th and 6th grade students had their winter band concert.  It was at Chamblee High School in their brand new Fine Arts auditorium. The bands were conducted by our amazing band teacher, Mr. Mason. It was very exciting.
Before the bands played, the honor band performed the Star Spangled Banner. This was their second ever performance so considering that, they did great!
The 5th grade band played Ode to Joy, Aura Lee, When the Saints Go Marching In, and the March of the Tin Soldiers. They performed at 7:00.
The 6th grade band played Holiday Bobsled Run, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Dance of the Reed Flutes, and Oh Hanukkah! They performed at 7:30.
Before the concert Margaret Oliaro in Mrs. Davis’ homeroom said “I was very nervous at first, but then I practiced and became less nervous, (Still very nervous, but less nervous than before).” We also interviewed an anonymous clarinetist after the concert. She and the rest of her section had lots of fun. She was lost for words about the performance after we asked her a few questions, just like us!

The fifth grade band performed in the new Chamblee High School auditorium.
