4th Grade Dezemberfest

By Grace Nichols and Claire McKlin

This is a picture of Frau V., Frau G. and Frau E.

Inside the doors of KMS, on Friday the 5th of December, there was a festive day.  It was called Dezemberfest.  The reason for Dezemberfest Frau V. said, “I wanted to give my students an awesome experience of German culture. I also wanted to reward my students with a fun and educational day.”  Dezemberfest is a day of Deutsch.
To start the day off, “some mysterious person” (maybe St. Nikolaus?) put candy and an orange in the clean shoe that we brought into school. There were four complete stations. In Ms. Cooper and Ms. Gooch’s classrooms, there was Jeopardy. In Ms. Gooch’s classroom the class was deciding team names. The questions in Jeopardy were about the History of Germany, how to say some German words, and the definitions of German words. In a couple of Ms. Gooch’s classes we finished with Jeopardy early so the classes watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. In Ms. Floyd and Mr. Mosley’s classrooms there was Sterne Basteln, which means Arts and Crafts. In those classrooms for arts and crafts they made paper snowflakes with scissors. Before it was time to rotate to the next station there was a big cleanup party.
In Mr. Clayton and Ms. Steele’s classrooms there was Spiel und Spass, which means Games and Fun. The game options were Chess, Guess Who, Uno and Sorry. One of the classes that were in there loved the games, but were very loud. At the Chess table they were very competitive. The last classrooms were home to Ms. Jones and Ms. Judkins, and they were hosting Kino and that means German Movie. The movies were Despicable Me 1 and Finding Nemo. As Conrad Thomson says, “It’s so epic and awesome to be watching Despicable Me 1.” Then in P.E. there was a German matching game. In music there was a video on German culture during the holidays.
Nitin Rao said, “The food was the best of the whole Dezemberfest. The whole thing was awesome! Big thanks to the teacher!” Frau V said, “The Buffet was my favorite part and it was awesome to see all the food and it also wouldn’t of happened without all the parents!” “I think the part of Dezemberfest went well the most was getting the entire community together and the fact that it all worked out!”
Dezemberfest was a blast!
The German buffet was full of yummy foods.
